Prior entrepreneurial experience and prior experience in IT and familiarity with the local region were the main considerations for selection of entrepreneurs to run the Akshaya e-kendras. The aptitude of the person to provide quality service and the ability to form a bonding with the local community were the other considerations. The ability to invest the requisite capital for the venture, apart from the entrepreneur’s commitment to the project including his/her ability to be involved full-time in the project was another major criterion.
