Impact in Malappuram
The project could bring in investment of about Rs. 5 lakhs per centre with the total direct investment of above Rs. 30 crores. Entire investment has been mobilized on a PPP mode. Each kendra employs 3 to 4 people thereby creating a total direct employment of around 2400. The project could directly empower the citizens and could create a high level of motivation among entrepreneurs.
The pilot project implemented in Malappuram was successfully
completed, with the following noticeable results :

First district in India with 100% household e-literacy

First district in India with connectivity at ward level

All villages in the district linked by broadband

Over 400 e-centres function as manpower training centres to create an e-literate society

Over 150 of these centres has been transformed into front end for Government service delivery with electronic payment of utility bills facility

Nearly 6 lakh people have already been imparted training in handling computer for their basic needs
